On the third day he rose again to a new and everlasting life.

Altar
This is the table of Christ's
body. Here the sacrifice of
of the cross is made present.
Our gifts of bread and wine,
which symbolise the offering
of ourselves, are offered to God
to be united with the offering
of the life of his son. From
the altar we receive God's gift
in return; the body of Christ,
our communion, our spiritual
food. A cross is also placed on
the altar to remind us of God's
love for man as expressed in
the death of his son.

And now he calls all men to find
faith in him by listening to his word.

Lecturn
This is the table of God's word
for his people. The treasures of
the Bible are opened to us, God
himself speaks to his people of
redemption and salvation and
nourishes their spirit. Christ is
present through his word which
is addressed to all men of every
age. Also, from the Lecturn the
prayers are said, interceding for
all mankind: the Church, and civil
authorities, for those with various
needs and for the salvation of
the world.

Those who have faith in Christ
are baptised in his name. Filled with his everlasting life, they
become members of a single
community, his body, the church.

Tabernacle
As in the past when God's
chosen people were pilgrims in
the desert on the way to the Promised Land, there was a special tent, or tabernacle, erected for his presence with them. A cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. So now in our pilgrimage to the fulness of Christ's kingdom we too have a real residing presence with us. After Mass some sacred elements are reserved in this safe.
